After School Program

Year-Round Spanish Program
NINE CONSECUTIVE WORKING MONDAYS (NO CLASSES ARE SCHEDULED ON HOLIDAYS- NO CHARGES).

This program aims at developing language and artistic skills simultaneously. Emphasis is made on the development of oral interaction to give students a practical command of the language. Through directions given in the language of study -whether it is Spanish or English- along with demonstrations, children will gradually enrich their second language vocabulary and structure, which they will use at the end of the activities to discuss the projects they have worked on during each session.

Our children´s programs are designed to involve children in the learning process in an active, fun way during their breakthrough years for language acquisition, while their language development abilities are at a peak. We follow the "see-listen-and-learn" technique, which engages children´s natural ability to learn languages. They will learn easily by seeing and hearing a language in action.

If your child is 14 years old or older, you may also read about our Tutoring program which offer a wide variety of options.

SCHEDULE
Our programs are taught on a continuous basis. After enrolling, students may start on the first day of class of any week, provided that they are at the group´s level of proficiency. Should they not meet the group´s level, they may catch up by taking private or semi-private classes prior to joining the group.

Through the use of an age appropriate curriculum, children will learn the structure of the language at task and develop communicative, cognitive skills. Our multi-sensory approah (visual, auditory, and physical practice) appeals to all types of learners. A combination of state-of-the-art methodology and materials (including story videos, vocabulary videos, audio programs, scripts and guides to literally surround children with new language) ensures a natural language learning experience. Reading and writing practice is provided for children above preschool grades.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

  • English or Spanish as a Second Language: This program integrates speaking, listening-comprehension, reading and writing skills. Children learn to speak the language through full immersion and to figure out the meaning of words from context. This enables students to understand and produce communication from early stages. Phonics, vocabulary, and grammar are taught through a variety of activities, including conversations, role playing, songs, games, storytelling, repetition, oral drills, and other engaging exercises.
  • English or Spanish for Native Speakers: This program provides the child with the motivation and appropriate environment to develop language cognitive skills, which he/she potentially has yet needs to develop. Multiple subject reading and writing activities enhance the student´s school performance in areas such as language arts, math, music, and science studies. Alphabet and phonic work is balanced with word recognition and sentence-making activities that promote fluency and mastery of the child´s native language.
  • Saturday Camp: As in our Saturday Camp, the child is prompted to actively participate in language classes, arts and crafts, as well as in cross-cultural activities, in a full immersion environment.
  • Arts & Crafts in Spanish: This program aims at developing language and artistic skills simultaneously. Emphasis is made on the development of oral interaction to give students a practical command of the language. Through directions given in Spanish, along with demonstrations, children will gradually enrich their Spanish vocabulary and structure, which they will use at the end of the activities to discuss the projects they have worked on during each session.
  • Italian, French, Portuguese, German or Chinese: This program -customized or in a group- aims at developing foreign language structures and communicative skills. Children learn to speak the language and figure out the meaning of words from context. Phonics, vocabulary, and grammar are taught through a variety of activities, including oral drills, role-playing, songs, games, storytelling, repetition, and other engaging exercises.
